How Often Should You Change Your Oil?

Oil Change

The health of your vehicle is almost as important as your own health because the safety of you and your passengers may depend on the health of your car. Routine oil changes are vital to your vehicle’s health. Over the last decade, improvements in oil and engine technologies help drivers to go much longer in oil change frequency. Most new models today have an oil change frequency between 7,500 and 10,000 miles. Still, always check your owner’s manual for specifics for your make and model, and if you have questions, contact Macke Motors, Inc..

Recommended Oil Change Frequency

How often should you change your oil? Some cars have a higher oil change frequency than others and vice versa, but the general rule of thumb is to change your oil every 7,500-10,000 miles. If your drives around Carroll or target_city_2%% regularly include any of the types of driving listed below, you need to adjust your oil change frequencies accordingly:

  • Off-roading
  • Commercial use
  • Racing
  • Heavy towing

  • Check your owner’s manual to see if you should use synthetic or conventional oil on your car. Synthetic oil costs more but lasts longer.
  • Oil eventually breaks down, even when the car isn’t driven on a consistent basis. If you don’t drive often, you should still change your oil at least twice per year.
  • Make sure you change your oil filter whenever you change your oil. Our parts center can assist you in getting the right oil filter for your Chevrolet.

How Often Should You Check Your Oil Level?

Check your oil level at least once a month to avoid any problems when you’re out and about on Lake View streets. Things like changes in your oil’s color and texture can be a sign of serious problems.
